Hi Guys….

Updated: Jan 10, 2021

Ladies… No, actually….. Gentlemen….

Yes, you fellas who think skincare isn’t for you, that it’s just for others, it’s not !

While you’re quite happily toddling along with your soap and razor, fighting your way to the bathroom mirror through pots and tubes of lotions and potions, please consider this..

Those extra few minutes at the bathroom mirror can improve the health and appearance of your skin for years to come.

I’ll start by getting a few things straight .

I’m not suggesting you spend more time in the bathroom than your partner.

And I’m definitely not suggesting that your Saturday night beer money is better spent in Boots !

There’s just a few changes that you can make that will dramatically improve your skin’s chance of retaining your boyish good looks as you age.

If I can attempt to justify 5 products that will make the difference, will you still be here at the end ? The first one to start snoring has to post a selfie with a face mask on. I’ll even send you the face mask !

Soap destroys the PH of your skin. It strips it’s natural defences and causes it to dehydrate.

Choose a cleansing wash to invigorate, deeply cleanse and prepare your skin. Use it in the shower to save time.

Exfoliators or Scrubs

Exfoliating your skin not only reveals a fresher, younger looking skin, it will also remove the dead skin cells that cause acne, ingrowing hairs and wrinkles.

Mix it with your facial wash twice a week but avoid your eye area.

Shaving products

Even if you’re sporting an, ever so trendy beard, there’s always areas of the face and neck that need a little tidy.

A good shaving gel or cream should lift the hairs away from the skin and protect it from nicks and cuts during shaving.

Eye Creams

The skin around your eyes is 10 times thinner than that of the rest of your face.

Drinking, smoking, squinting and not removing your make up can all…. Oh, scrub that part, unless you’re a fan of a little manscara of an evening… can all cause premature aging.

Pick your battle, a cream works better on lines and wrinkles and a gel is better for puffiness and dark circles. There’s very few products that will effectively treat both sets of problems.

Moisturisers

You’re clean, you’re scrubbed, you’re shaved.. Now pop some cream over the top!

But why? I hear you exclaim.. I feel so clean…..

You absolutely HAVE to protect your skin. Preventing water loss, protection from UVA and UVB and a clean and clear complexion are the ultimate goals of your moisturiser.

I’ve tried to give you a few examples of products available on the market. Prices range from £5 to £39 so there’s something for everyone.

Hey ! You made it ! Excellent guys, thanks for sticking with me.

Start small … If you’re doing nothing at all, start with a wash and moisturise. If you’re doing that already then try an exfoliator.

Coming up to *shudders* Christmas, loads of product houses will be putting special kits together with travel or sample size products. If you do receive one as a gift, instead of sticking it in a cupboard or palming them off on your son, please give them a try.

I’ll leave you with this thought…

In 2015, the sales of mens skincare in the UK rose to a whopping £96 million

And that means guys, that a lot of your mates are using skincare, even if they’re not admitting it.

Maybe it’s time you joined the revolution ….

Thanks for reading
